Dreamcatchers originated from indigenous cultures in North America, primarily the Ojibwe and Lakota nations. The Ojibwe word for dreamcatcher is asabikeshiinh, meaning "spider."
Legend has it that in ancient times, a mythical spider woman taught people to weave a web-like object from natural materials such as twigs, leather, and feathers, to preserve good dreams and dispel nightmares. In modern times, dreamcatchers have evolved to be a symbol of protection and comfort for people of all cultures.
We have created a dreamcatcher workshop in our store on Main and 12th to help revive the age-old practice of dream appreciation.
10% of the workshop fee will be donated to Kílala Lelum (Downtown Eastside Urban Indigenous Health and Healing Cooperative).
Our friendly staff will assist you in selecting from a variety of materials, and provide hands-on, step-by-step instructions on how to design and construct your own one-of-a-kind dreamcatcher, either for yourself or as a heartfelt gift for a loved one.
The process of making a dreamcatcher is creative and relaxing, and the outcome of this reflective activity is a beautiful and unique object enchanted with the labour of your love.
The time to make a dreamcatcher varies depending on the maker's dexterity. Based on the recommended age groups below, it generally takes about 30 minutes to an hour to complete.
- Small (3" diameter) - recommended for 6-10 years of age
- Medium (5" diameter) - recommended for 10-16 years of age
- Large (7" diameter) - recommended for 16 years or older

Refund/Cancellation: we accept cancellation and will refund 50% of the paid fee up to 24 hours prior to the booked time. No refund will be provided after.
