FAQ

Where are your products made?

The majority of our products are made in our workshop in Burnaby, BC.  We stock organic natural fabrics and other materials there, and cut, sew, fill, and package them into different products.  We also source a number of products overseas that our customers demand but we cannot manufacture in Canada, for example our silk and bamboo duvets and organic cotton towels.  We ensure that our trusted overseas partners meet north American labor standards.

Where do you source your fabrics and materials?

Because we have been in business for over thirty years, we do not have a single source of supplies.  We have sourced premium quality materials from certified mills all over the world, including US, Turkey, China, Portugal, India, and Egypt.

Your organic products are so colourful. Are they safe?

We love colours!  Organic used to mean beige in textiles ten years ago, but now organic fabrics come in a variety of colours, patterns, and textures.  As the cotton is grown organically, there is no chemical input in the growth stage.  Conventional cotton is one of the most chemically dependent crops in the world.  Every 3 pounds of conventional cotton (a sheet set or a shirt and a pair of jeans) requires 1 pound of chemicals fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides to grow!  During the fabrics manufacturing stage, some chemicals are applied to dye and finish the fabrics.  We do have some fabrics that are dyed with herbs, however the colours are limited.  The chemicals chosen to dye and finish organic fabrics have relatively low impact on the environment and non-toxic on human bodies.  For example, after our organic cotton sateen is made, we sent a swatch of fabric to a third party lab to test for formaldehyde and a long list of other carcinogenic and toxic chemicals.
